Through photostabilization, the excited state energy of a light-absorbing species is removed by energy transfer and/or by an electron transfer quenching mechanism. By removing this excited state energy and returning the species to its ground state, photostabilization prevents its photodegradation and ROS generation.
Hallstar has pioneered photostabilization technology to promote effective sun protection and comprehensive photoaging prevention. Our photostabilizers protect photolabile UV filters from decomposition and shield photosensitive UV filters from generating ROS. Many skincare actives are also photosensitive and susceptive to UV induced decomposition. Our unique photostabilizers are often the only approach to ensure stability and long-lasting performance.
